The Choice of The Evenstar

While the morn rised
She never watched
But oft she would watch
the sun's fading
As the cold of the night
Crept across the shores
And in these moments
She felt what she had lost
Of everything that she had missed
So used to the feeling
of feeling nothing
At watching her spirit sink
Because she could never
Fill her only heart's wish

The Promise of the Bearer

it has taken him away
his soul has diminished
night shall never return to day
for the quest is never finished

no longer knowing what lies in his heart
he trusts only what lies before him
and that only draws him apart
as the light within his eyes grows dim

he can feel the cold taking his hands
it is more than he can bear
as he travels across the lands
all he feels is despair

for the ones that he love
have travelled a different path
the path not of the dove
but of the crow's wrath

never again shall he see them
as they once lived before
as he lived in happiness back then
he shall live that time never more

for a promise he did make
that til the day he'd die
he'd spill his heart for other's sakes
and he lives for that by and by

SAMWISE THE BRAVE

he has given his life to one
and to that one he solely obeys
as he walks under the sun
he follows his master for days
it is his burden to help the bearer
and this job lies heavy in his heart
for at home lies one fairer
that oinly his master could bring apart
but he follows him with high steps
as he trudges through the lands
thinking of only what lies ahead
as he holds his master's hand
and as they pchicken through briar and bush
and battle, enemies, and mountains
he hopes for all trees of lush
and beautiful silver fountains
full of clear flowing water
and gold scaled fish
the thought always brings him farther
as he dreams and casts a wish
he knows it is hopeless
to ever return to his dream
but he thinks of all the happiness
that lies not within this seam

I stand here upon this hill
As the wind sends a chill through my spine
It is neither cold nor scalding
Even though the stars tell it to bite me
I turn my cheek and take the pain
I smile at myself
To think of the long journey it took to get here
Only to sit and watch the moon laugh
Laugh at me
As the zephyr of the world nags him on
But i am unbending
uncomprising
unyielding
I am condescending
The wind is frivolous to me
And I pay no attention to his seductive mockings
Because I suffer no pain from anyone
Because pain shows that you are weak
And you can never be vulnerable

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight
Mist and shadow, cloud and shade
Hope shall fade, all shall fade.

These twisted minds are the straightest way to your downfall
So I'm dreaming here to stay out of the way
And I'm praying here that our there you will be safe
When all's lost
With great cost
But I won't be concerned
I know you'll survive on your own
Can the body survive without the soul?
So I've written this letter
And though the characters are clear
You'll have to read between the lines
So you see that I mean
That I miss you . . .
Ever so much more than a soul in the midst of eternity
- misses the first sunrise of his beginning
And nostalgia freezes the quill in my hand
Bearing the ink down to blot the page
And the spot bleeds out your sillouette.
Yet though I know you'll only pass a glance over my words
It makes me glad to say
That I've said something
And at least come closer to where you are
. . .
